Classification: | Kingdom: Animalia | Phylum: Arthropoda | Class: Insecta | Order: Hymenoptera | Family: Formicidae | Genus: Crematogaster |

Crematogaster difformis look quite similar to the Cocoa Black Ant (Dolichoderus thoracicus) and both are found in the same habitat. However, there are some subtle differences. Crematogaster difformis is much darker than the Cocoa Black Ant. Also, the tail end of Crematogaster difformis is pointed while that of the Cocoa Black Ant is round. In the picture below, there were 3 Cocoa Black Ants on the left side. They were slightly smaller in size than Crematogaster difformis.

It looks similar to the Iridomyrmex species that reside in wild rattan in Singapore. But, after checking on the pictures of Iridomyrmex species, I was not so certain whether it was indeed the same species.

I once saw an insect with wings that mingled around with these ants. It migt be the winged version of this ant.
